Set in 1980s Ibadan, Odun, a wealthy lonely farmer with no surviving family save for his late brother’s widow Morenike and her son Femi, decides to marry a young bride Funmi from the neighbouring village. Funmi who is supposed to sooth Odun’s aging nerves and bring him joy in his old age sinks into grief and despair, resenting her husband through this union arranged by her mother Tundun, she had no say in.
She soon begins an affair with his nephew Femi who returns from the university to life as a wood carver in the village. They decide to murder the old man when Funmi becomes pregnant for Femi.
Femi inherits Funmi as his wife but soon faces the consequences of their actions when the old man’s ghost begins to haunt the young lovers. His relationship with Funmi furthers deteriorates when he begins an affair with Banke- his eccentric fashion loving ex who left the town to begin a career as a model, pushing Funmi to extreme heights with detrimental consequences for her and Femi
